The individuals from Left to Right are: Mike Broadway, Barry Jones, Graham Rodda (behind shield), (unknown head), Phil Clarke [behind], Dennis Clarke [front]. Barry Jones was one of the club's star riders in the early 1960's, eventually turning professional.

Mike Broadway, Paul May, Paul Dann, Clive Godsave, Stuart Burgess, Barry Jones,Mick Collard, Clive Steel, Paul Burgess. Despite considerable brain-racking I can't recall the names of the two missing. Paul May and Paul Burgess were, with Barry Jones, exceptional time triallists, challenging for National honours in the early 1960's. They left the Kingston Wheelers to join Old Portlians CC where with Dave Bonner and Leon Murley [ex-Kingston Phoenix] they formed a formidable team pursuit squad.

Again, the presentation shot of me in evening dress is not an ego trip but shows two of the club stalwarts of the time, Gil Jessop and Mrs Bill Orpin. The trophies, I notice from photos of this years presentation, are still in use. The shield was then the 30 mile trophy and the cup 50 miles.

Back row is Sean Farrell, Roger Mitchell, Eric Miller, Bill Orpin, Gil Jessop, Mike Broadway, Mark Edwards, Terry Smith and Dave McManus. Mark was a diabetic, reliant on insulin injections, and I remember some explaining was required when around the time of Tom Simpson's death an event organiser discovered him sitting in the back of the Bedford van with a needle in his thigh!

The Club Dinner speech photo is notable not for my welcome to the visitors but for the two top table guests who have me under scrutiny. They are Mr and Mrs Cyril Wren. Cyril was a Clarence Wheelers member but was also a keen Kingston Wheelers supporter. He owned a bike shop in Richmond Road, Kingston opposite what was then the gasworks. He produced lightweight hand built frames under his own name the touring models being particularly good.
