Hello all...
New to the club, but after many recommendations and looking around the site i took the plunge and joined the forum.
Name is Ian, I live in Wandsworth, SW18 and ride a Spec Allez and wanted to say hi to all.
I look forward to meeting everyone and joining you on as many of the Sunday runs as i can make and helping out in any areas i can pitch in! |

| Doesn't he have to do a Kingston Wheeler proficiency test round RP first? |

Hi Ian, ignore the cynics and lengthy discussions, just forum banter. We're always happy to help and welcome. See you on a clubrun soon, it's much simpler there than on here! _________________ Hello, I hope you are enjoying whatever brand of cycling tickles your fancy. Cycling is very nice. |

Yes, i am looking forward to joing the club run on a regular basis.. unfortunately i cannot do this sunday's as i am cycling the North York Moors.. which equally should be quite nice!
What sort of pace do the club runs go at?
I have looked on the FAQs and it mentions 18mph avgs.. but then i also see there are some slower and faster groups setting off staggerred on Sundays....
For my first run out at least i would rather sit in too slow-a group than spoil others' ride by holding them back....
what sort of paces are the diff groups going at?
Sorry if its a newbie question that i might be able to find elsewhere.. i have looked but couldnt find an answer... thanks! |

It seems to be a surprisingly difficult question to answer, and another thread has a discussion about how the guidance on the website can be improved, but the general concensus seems to be that if you can do a lap of Richmond Park in roughly 25 minutes, then you should be okay for the slower groups.
Obviously nobody is allowed to do a lap any faster than 20 minutes as that is the legal speed limit, but if you can do a 20 minute lap and it feels really easy, then you might want to choose a ride designated as medium or even fast. |

Phew, thank God I bought my Allez new then! Haha.
I'll have to time myself around the park and then jump in the nearest club run group after that. Thanks for the guidance, is a helpful pointer. |

Hi Ian
I've found the slower group to be around 14mph and the intermediate group around 16mph
we tend to stop and the top of the longer climbs to regroup.
The training group led out by the legendary "skinsuit Dan" does about 18mph+ - certainly too quick for me!
i'm not around this Sunday either but will look out for you the following week.
After you've found yourself comfortable with the club pace etc you can keep an eye out on here for the mid week evening rides like the one Matt T has posted for tomorrow.
