Introducing...
Every month, we introduce some of the Kingston Wheelers and Leona Kadir is here for November 2008. She's new to cycling but has experienced it all so far, from Gold standards in sportives to less enjoyable moments like being frozen on cold mornings out in the Surrey lanes.
Name: Leona Kadir
Age: 25
Significant others: Nope.
Date you joined the Club: October 2008.
What made you start cycling?I used to do loads of spin classes and my teacher lent me her road bike while she was away over the summer. It was instant love. I've always cycled but riding a road bike was like nothing else I'd ever experienced!
Why did you join Kingston Wheelers?Because from when I first joined the forum and did my first club run everyone was so nice, I didn't even bother to try anywhere else.
What bike do you ride? Specialized Allez 09.
Give us a brief cycling background: I used to have a bmx (stolen from Kingston) and spent years trying to learn how to do tricks but gave up eventually and just used it to get around. I went from that to a mountain bike just for going round the park then current bike.
What was your best performance or ride?I've only been riding since July this year really so haven't done a huge amount. Probably getting the gold time standard by 15 mins in the Legs of Steel sportive as I really didn't expect it.
What was your worst day on the bike? So far a mid week club ride where I was completely under dressed and frozen solid the whole ride.
Who is your favourite pro or inspiration? Victoria Pendleton.
What is your favourite bike food? Porridge in the morning before. Always.
Where is your favourite cycling location? The Lake District.
