Introducing...
Every month, we introduce one of the Kingston Wheelers. This month's it's the turn of Richard Williamson, one of the club's veteran time triallists who shows the rest of us how it is done. He's also active in helping the club and supporting local events.

Name: Richard Williamson
Age: 58.25
Significant Others: Jenny, Jemma, Andrew and Russell.
What made you start cycling? Aspirations to be a pro when I was a teenager so went to Belgium for two years. I was not good enough to make the grade and also the doping scene was very rife, which totally put me off. I stopped cycling for the best part of 25 years and went motor racing. I gradually drifted back into cycling when I gave up motor racing.
Why did you join Kingston Wheelers? Peter King recommended as a good local friendly club and met John Bornhoft who was a fantastic inspiration.
Date you joined the Club: Four or five years ago.
Who is your favourite pro or inspiration? Roger Hammond.
What bike do you ride? Gios, Gios, Gios and a Sigma.
Give us a brief cycling background: Short distance time trials and LVRC road races.
What was your best performance? 22.19 in national VTTA 10 24/7/04 and nearly winning LVRC road race on 25/7/04 in a break of five, jumped away but caught on the line and finished 4th (Must improve my sprint for next year!).
What was your worst performance? Being dropped at Hillingdon on the first lap when I came back to cycling.
What is your favourite race food? A gourmet meal in the King William IV at Mickleham and two pints of Adnams after a Club 10.
Where is your favourite cycling location? Surrey and Sussex lanes with the South Western on a Thursday usually covering 70/80 miles with little traffic and amazing scenery.
Most likely to say: "Is it windy?"
Least likely to say: "I am going to ride a 12 hour."
