The Wheelers have a long history of supporting and participating in local bike racing. We host several races throughout the season and rely on volunteers from our membership to help make these happen. We take part in a wide-range of local races including the Surrey League, local crit races and cyclo-cross and time trials.
Racing for KWCC
We have an active contingent of members who train and race together. We are always looking to grow the team with riders who are looking to race for a club, with the social benefits and events that come with being in a bigger cycling community.
Training Rides
We have several fast training rides that are geared towards people looking to improve their race fitness. These include a summer two hill rides, winter chain gang, and weekly Saturday rides that simulate race pace.
Club events
We are proud to host a wide range of racing events that give back to the cycling community by providing grassroots opportunities. These include the Maria Thompson Memorial Road Race which is a Nat B and part of the British Women’s Team Cup. As well as the first Surrey League races of the season at Dunsfold and our end-of-season Club Championships at Hillingdon.
Surrey League
The Surrey League was founded in 1983 by Keith Butler and it’s been a core part of the club’s racing history. There are weekend road races across the season, including several opportunities for vets racing which are new to the calendar. We are looking to increase participation at Surrey League races and ensure its future.
Benefits of Racing
By racing with the club you’ll be part of a supportive community that doesn’t always take it super seriously, but always has fun together. The club has an annual race fund that covers a proportion of everyone’s entry fees for ranking events. And we have a great-looking kit with race suits available from both Le Col and NoPinz.

Race Secretary: Phil Feather
KWCC has a rich heritage in local grassroots racing and continues to champion this cause, with the organisation of at least two Road Races per year, an infamous Hill Climb, numerous TT events, a Cyclocross race, and plenty of other club-only events. Despite significant changes to the membership over the years, we continue to represent across a wide range of local racing events year-after-year, with members quickly progressing through the ranks due to the support available within the club. Whatever your cycling goals are, you’ll always have another Wheeler cheering you on!”
